IA 10 Nanjing Coal Docks reconversion

Project description: This project aimed to recycle an existing coal dock that was linked to a central power station in downtown Nanjing. After SOM’s master plan for the area and the conversion of the power station into a cultural center and museum complex, smaller outbuildings surrounding the power station started to be developed in an attempt to get the project moving. This coal dock then was transformed into a recreational area, along the Yangtze river banks, part of a new riverside walk with wet restoration and requalification.
